Course overview

PMP Certification in Malaysia, updated for the 2026 exam

The PMP certification is the global standard for experienced project managers. It shows you can lead projects in any way of working — predictive, hybrid or agile — without being tied to one methodology or one industry. With more than 1.7 million PMP holders worldwide, it’s the most widely held project management certification there is — the credential that hiring managers already recognise, wherever you go.

This course is fully restructured for the PMP exam that took effect on 9 July 2026. The curriculum runs on the updated Exam Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition. The Business Environment domain now makes up 26% of the exam, up from 8% — a shift toward value delivery and strategic alignment — so this course spends real time there, not as an afterthought.

Skillet is a PMI Authorized Training Partner at Premier level, the highest of PMI’s ATP tiers. We became a PMI Authorized Training Partner in 2025. At the 2026 PMI APAC ATP Honors, we received the Emerging Partner Achievement Honor. The course runs on PMI’s current instructor and participant materials — so what you study is what PMI itself teaches, not a third-party rewrite.

Who should attend

Who this PMP course is for

Experienced project managers

You are already running projects and you want the credential that proves it. This is your first attempt at the PMP exam.

Anyone re-sitting under the new exam

You prepared for the old exam and did not pass, or you paused. The July 2026 structure is different enough that old study material will work against you.

Team leads and senior managers

You run cross-functional or multi-department work without the project manager title, and you want a structured way to do it rather than a personal system.

CAPM holders moving up

Your active CAPM already waives PMI's 35-hour training requirement. This course is the step to full PMP.

Learning outcomes

What you will be able to do

  • Apply the updated People, Process and Business Environment domains to real project situations — the exact split the exam tests you on.
  • Lead project teams across predictive, agile and hybrid delivery — so no question catches you defaulting to just one method.
  • Connect project decisions to organizational strategy and business value — the Business Environment questions that now carry more weight than ever.
  • Manage risk, stakeholder expectations and scope changes with a repeatable approach — not guesswork under exam pressure.
  • Apply PMBOK Guide 8th Edition principles and performance domains across a project lifecycle — the standard this exam is actually built on.
  • Judge where AI tools and sustainability considerations fit in modern project delivery — new to the 2026 exam, and easy to underprepare for.
  • Complete the PMI application correctly the first time — including the training verification rules that take effect on 1 December 2026.
  • Sit the PMP exam in all five question formats without surprises — scenario, graphic, enhanced matching, point-and-click, and multiple choice.

PMI requires you to meet one of four education and experience routes before you can apply, and to complete 35 hours of project management training. The four routes are listed in the eligibility section above.

Two things are worth knowing before you apply:

  • Your project experience must fall within the last 10 years. PMI extended this look-back period from 8 years.
  • If you hold an active CAPM certification, PMI waives the 35-hour training requirement for your PMP application.

PMI rule · from 1 December 2026

From 1 December 2026, most live PMP training in Malaysia stops counting toward your PMP application.

PMI will only count live instructor-led training hours toward your application if they come from a PMI Authorized Training Partner, a China Registered Education Provider, or an eligible accredited higher education program. Self-paced on-demand courses are not affected, and any training you complete before 1 December 2026 stays eligible. Skillet is a PMI Authorized Training Partner at Premier level.
